36% of Missouri students lack internet to learn at home, report says

Missouri ranks 9th among states with the highest proportion of K-12 students without an adequate internet connection, according to a report by the nonprofit Common Sense Media.

The report estimates that 36% of Missouri students don’t have an adequate high-speed connection. The study also found that 25% of students don’t have devices to study remotely.

A recent survey by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education found 23% of students lack sufficient internet access.

Both studies found that cost was the biggest barrier to access high speed internet.
