A destination for upscale dining and special events on the University of Missouri campus will close its doors next month due to budget pressures from the coronavirus pandemic.
University Club and Catering will shutter on Sept. 18. The restaurant and catering service lost revenue from March through July during the time students were not on campus, according to a statement from Gary Ward, MU’s vice chancellor for operations, and Nancy Monteer, director of campus dining services.
The University Club was chartered in 1992 and hosted events in the Reynolds Alumni Center. The statement from Ward and Monteer called the club a “place for faculty, staff and the community to gather for social, educational, philanthropic and recruitment activities.”
The club will continue to take reservations online, and the catering will serve groups of 20 or fewer people until Sep. 18. Employees of the club and catering service will be given priority consideration for any positions currently hiring with Campus Dining Services, according to the statement.
