CVS Health is looking to fill 15,000 jobs across the country to meet an anticipated increase in demand with COVID-19 and flu cases expected to rise during the fall and winter months.
More than 10,000 of those positions are for pharmacy technicians, the Rhode Island-based company announced Monday in a press release. CVS said many of the positions are temporary but could become permanent.
The company also said it is recruiting “several thousand” customer service employees to work from home, and it specified Kansas City as one of the markets where it’s hiring those employees.
CVS did not offer job counts for specific markets, although the company’s website currently advertises about 340 jobs within 20 miles of Kansas City and more than 230 within the same distance of St. Louis. CVS lists more than 200 locations across Missouri.
In the release, the company also advocated for pharmacy technicians to be allowed to administer COVID-19 vaccinations under the supervision of certified pharmacists, in response to what it called “much greater need … given the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities.”
