Three Missouri companies are among the 100 best companies to work for in 2021, according to Fortune. Edward Jones, Veterans United Home Loans and World Wide Technology all made the magazine’s annual list.
The Great Place to Work Institute evaluated workplace environments by sending out confidential surveys to employees and assessing companies’ reactions to the challenges that arose during the pandemic, according to Fortune. Only companies with more than 1,000 U.S. employees can be considered for the 100 Best Companies list, and more than 500,000 employees were surveyed.
The St. Louis-based financial services firm Edward Jones ranked 20th on the list. It has more than 45,000 employees, about 60% of which are women. To support its employees during the pandemic, the company “provided enhanced childcare support as well as mental health and wellness services,” according to Fortune.
Columbia-based mortgage lender Veterans United Home Loans ranked 33rd on the list. As of March 2021, it has about 4,500 employees, according to Fortune. The company drew high marks for providing employees’ children with tutoring sessions to help them adapt to online schooling.
World Wide Technology, based in Maryland Heights, ranked 73rd on the list. According to Fortune, it has more than 6,500 employees. Fortune highlighted the company taking different actions, including one-on-one counseling and webinars, to help with its frontline workers’ mental health.
Hotel chain Hilton took the top spot in Fortune’s ranking, followed by retailer Target and hotel chain Marriott.
