Five Kansas City-area hospitals have been recognized as top performers by the organization responsible for accrediting U.S. medical facilities.
In Kansas, the commission recognized Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park and Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth. In Missouri, the list included Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Belton Regional Medical Center and Lafayette Regional Medical Center in Lexington, Mo.
The Joint Commission on Wednesday released its 2011 Top Performers on Key Quality Measures list of 620 hospitals. Using accountability data compiled and reported by the hospitals in 2011, the program measures the quality of care provided for eight main areas: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma care, inpatient psychiatric services, venous thromboembolism care and stroke care.
