Amtrak’s KC-St. Louis Route Sees Ridership Chug Upward

Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner trains saw increased ridership for the fifth straight year in fiscal 2012.

Between fiscal 2007 and 2012, the number of travelers on the route, which links Kansas City and St. Louis, has increased by 74 percent. So far this year, more than 192,000 people have ridden the train.

Last year, the River Runner had a record-setting performance, despite flooding that suspended several trips and reduced ridership on some trips by 28 percent.
