95 Sheep Die After Grazing in Closed Monsanto Mine

Some 95 domestic sheep died after eating contaminated plants in Monsanto’s shuttered Henry Mine in southeastern Idaho.

St. Louis-based Monsanto makes Roundup herbicide using phosphate it mines in Idaho. Trent Clark, spokesman for Monsanto, said a herder entered the mine pit, which closed in 1989, with 1,200 sheep without permission.
