Gas War Breaks Out Near I-170

Drivers today are crowding gas stations along Natural Bridge Road near I-170 where a gasoline price war has driven the price of regular to $3.04 a gallon.

The battle broke out two days ago between a QuikTrip and a Huck’s station across from each other on Natural Bridge near the interstate. It then spread to Phillips and Shell stations further west on the road.

The $3.04 price is well below the $3.38 average for St. Louis as measured by the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Pumps were jammed with customers at the stations this morning, although waits were short.  Lines several cars deep formed only sporadically. Read more on St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
