Coventry Health Care of Kansas Inc. will move its 300 employees from the company’s  headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., to new office space in Overland Park, Kan.

Coventry, a managed health care organization with corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Md., confirmed Monday that it plans to take about 70,000 square feet in the Overland Park Corporate Woods’Building 40, a 16-story office structure. Coventry plans to move to the new space in mid-April.

It was not immediately clear whether development incentives were involved.

But Kansas has been aggressive in attracting out-of-state companies — namely those that offer employee wages above the county median — with an incentive program that allows eligible businesses to retain 95 percent of their payroll withholding taxes.

Coventry was one of the bigger targets among companies moving their office space across the Kansas-Missouri state line.
