St. Louis Area Food Bank to Receive $30,000 from ADM

Archer Daniels Midland Company announced it is donating $30,000 to the St. Louis Area Food Bank as part of a $1 million contribution to Feeding America to support 30 mobile food distribution units in 21 states.

Decatur, Ill.-based ADM will fund $30,000 grants to 30 individual Feeding America member food banks for mobile distributions over two years.

On average, a $30,000 grant provides six mobile distributions within each food bank’s counties.

The St. Louis Area Food Bank services 26 counties, 14 in Missouri and 12 in Illinois. Through mobile food distribution, the St. Louis Area Food Bank distributes about 30,000 pounds of food to about 200 families between 25 and 30 times a year, according to Matt Dace, senior vice president of the St. Louis Area Food Bank.

Feeding America, led by interim President and CEO Matt Knott, reported total public support and revenue of $1.21 billion for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011.
