Zeolyst’s $80 Million Expansion Plan May Get Boost

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., will decide Thursday whether to issue industrial revenue bonds to support Zeolyst’s expansion. The project is expected to add 33 jobs and retain 80 existing jobs at the manufacturing plant.

Zeolyst, a company jointly owned by PQ Corp. and CRI/Criterion Inc., makes chemical compounds used in heavy diesel refineries and for environmental cleanup.

It announced $83 million plans in 2010 to invest in and expand its facility in KCK, at the time hoping to use a manufacturing-specific tax abatement called an economic development exemption, or EDX, to support the expansion.
