U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has signed an eight-year lease for a vacant office building at Overland Park’s Rosana Square, where 500 employees will be hired during the next eight to 10 months to help implement new immigration policy.

USCIS plans to begin operations in mid-December. The lease for more than 106,000 square feet runs until April 2021 with an option to terminate right in April 2016. The least rate at Rosana Square is $18.16 a square foot, which would mean an annual rent rate of $2.17 million.

The federal agency plans to hire another 300 workers at an existing immigration service facility in Lee’s Summit.
