Sporting KC, Soccer Field Plans at Swope Go to Extra Time

The Tax Increment Financing Commission of Kansas City has tabled discussion on a plan to tap money from an existing TIF district to help pay for new soccer fields and an expansion of Sporting Kansas City’s training facility at Swope Park, the Kansas City Business Journal reports.

The $27 million plan faces objections from Raytown School District, Jackson County, the Mid-Continent Public Library and other taxing jurisdictions, which claim they stand to lose millions of dollars in a special TIF account.
