The Kansas City region’s jobless rate is at 6.2 percent in October according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Unemployment was at 7.5 percent in the Kansas City area last October.
National unemployment for October was at 7.5 percent if measured on the non-seasonally adjusted basis used for metropolitan data. The national rate was 7.9 percent, seasonally adjusted.
October’s statistics were similar to September’s which said unemployment was at 6.1 percent. The last two month’s jobless numbers marked the best two-month span of unemployment in the region since the end of 2008.
