KC Median Home Price Dropped 1.9 Percent From Last Year

A new housing report by Fiserv Case-Shiller indicated Kansas City and most of the region lagged behind the nation as a whole when it came to median home prices through the first half of the year.

The median price of a Kansas City area home dropped 1.9 percent between the second quarter of this year and the second quarter of 2011, and the price is expected to decline through the first half of 2013 before rising steadily, according to Case-Shiller.

That figure contrasts with the June numbers released by the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors, which reported home prices locally were up 6 percent compared to the same month a year ago.
