MEMC Names New Chairman, Sells Solar Projects

MEMC Electronic Materials has named Emmanuel Hernandez as its new chairman of the board, and an MEMC subsidiary, SunEdison, has sold two solar power projects in Ontario to Canadian Solar Inc. for $37 million.

Hernandez, a board member of the O’Fallon, Mo.-based maker of silicon wafers for the solar and semiconductor industries since 2009, succeeds John Marren, who is retiring from the board after 11 years. Director William Stevens also is retiring from the company’s board on Dec. 31.
