Emerson Sees Q1 Profit Increase 22 Percent

Emerson Electric Co. officials today reported net earnings of $466 million in its first quarter ended Dec. 31, up 22 percent from the prior-year quarter, mostly on increased sales, particularly in the process management unit.

The company also reported net sales of $5.55 billion during the first quarter, up 5 percent from the prior-year quarter.

St. Louis-based Emerson reported net income of $2 billion on net sales of $24.4 billion in fiscal 2012, up about 1 percent from fiscal 2011. The company and its subsidiaries had an average of about 134,900 employees last year.
