Construction Employment Climbs In Show-Me State

Statewide construction employment in Missouri rose 2 percent, to 99,200 in December 2012 from 96,800 the year before, according to an analysis of federal employment data compiled by the Associated General Contractors of America. In Kansas, employment declined 2 percent, to 50,900 from 52,200, during the same period.

Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist, said in a release that the private sector’s demand for energy, health care, higher education and residential construction is helping the industry recover.
