Legislature Considers Giving Manufacturers Tax Breaks For Creating Jobs

Manufacturing companies that create five or more full-time jobs with benefits would be able to retain five percent of their state taxes, under a bill being considered by the House Economic Development Committee. To be eligible for the tax break, manufacturers would also have to pay 100 percent of the county’s wages based on numbers compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The percentage of what businesses would retain could increase as pay for those jobs increased.
