P&G Pushing Into St. Louis Dry Cleaning Business

Proctor & Gamble is betting on its Tide brand as it opens up dry cleaning franchises in the St. Louis area. P&G opened its first “Tide Dry Cleaners” in Ballwin in January and plans to open seven more. As the Cincinnati-based manufacturer makes inroads in the service industry, independent cleaners in St. Louis are both skeptical that the company can survive in a market with a dwindling bottom line and worried about losing customers to the giant P&G.
