Euronet Reports Higher Quarterly Revenue, Net Loss

Euronet Worldwide Inc., which operates an international electronics payment system, on Wednesday reported a 10-percent increase in fourth-quarter revenue, but a net loss largely because of charges related to business in Brazil.

The Leawood, Kan.-based company generated $351.2 million in quarterly revenue. But the net loss of $13 million compared with a profit of $10.9 million in the same quarter in 2011.

The company said the financial contribution of new electronic payment products in Brazil has not begun to outstrip the loss of earnings resulting from the continued impact of changes in distribution strategies of certain mobile operators in the country.
