KC Housing Market Now Favors Sellers, Realtors Group Says

With an increase in sales and a decline in inventory, the Kansas City housing market in January continued to improve for sellers, favoring them for the first time in five years.

The Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors reported total home sales in January were up 11 percent compared with January 2012, rising from 1,396 to 1,547.

The association also reported a 4.9-month supply of existing homes, two months less than a year ago, and a 5.7-month supply of new homes, three months less than a year ago. When the supply is less than five, it’s an indication of a market favorable for sellers.
