Chesterfield Issues First Permits For Proposed Outlet Stores

Chesterfield city planners have issued the first permits to two competing outlet malls in the city that will pave the way for interior finish work and business licenses for stores.

Aimee Nassif, planning and development services director for the city of Chesterfield in St. Louis County, said that her office has been getting a lot of calls recently from proposed tenants trying to get permits for interior work.

Developers have been racing each other for over a year to build their outlet centers just a few miles away from each other and from the Chesterfield Mall. At this point, the battle over leases at the outlets is coming down to the wire and even executives say if both centers are built, neither may thrive.
