St. Louis “is becoming a start-up town,” according to a report released this month by technology career website Dice.
The city saw a 25 percent increase in tech jobs listed on the site between March 1 and the same date last year. The growth put St. Louis ahead of any other city in that category. Charlotte, with 22 percent growth, was next, followed by Austin, Texas, Phoenix and Detroit.
The increase in St. Louis job postings was accompanied by a rise in median wage for those jobs. The median wage figure increased 13 percent from last year and now sits at $81,245.
Dice cites the St. Louis Information Technology Entrepreneur Network, or ITEN, as a key to St. Louis becoming more tech-friendly. Established in 2008, ITEN works to help entrepreneurs gain access to accelerate tech venture success.
