Tyson Will Pay $3.9 million To Settle Clean Air Act Violations

Tyson Foods agreed to pay $3.9 million to settle alleged Clean Air Act violations in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. The violations center around refrigeration systems in the food manufacturer’s facilities, including six in Missouri.

Between 2006 and 2010, leaks of anhydrous ammonia, a poisonous gas, resulted in a fatality as well as other injuries and property damage. The EPA said it found that Tyson failed to follow general industry standards in preventing chemical accidents.
