Residents In Path of McKee’s North St. Louis Project Are Hopeful, Wary

St. Louis developer Paul McKee says the time is now for his much-delayed NorthSide Regeneration, after Missouri’s highest court overturned a 2010 ruling that blocked its redevelopment plan.

He hopes later this year to start street and sewer work across the two-square mile project, build several dozen new homes and start attracting companies to open up shop in north city.

Many people in the long-struggling north St. Louis neighborhoods McKee wants to redevelop are hopeful that the developer’s Supreme Court win will translate into a victory for the people who live there. But many remain wary that progress might get pushed off yet again.
