Dish Chairman Pitches Sprint Acquisition Benefits

Charlie Ergen, the aggressive deal-making chairman of Dish Network Corp., said Sprint Nextel Corp. shareholders will eventually back the Colorado-based company’s $25 billion offer over Softbank’s and he portrayed the bidding competition as a “Japanese company” against an “American entrepreneur startup.” SoftBank didn’t raise its offer for Sprint, though it may reconsider should the Overland Park-based company’s board decide the Dish deal is better.
