Blue Cross Awards $200K In Grants To KC Health Care Projects
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City has awarded four grants of $50,000 each to Kansas City-area health care professionals who leading research programs targeted at improving patient care and reducing costs.
The grant recipients are:
- Dr. Steven Simpson, University of Kansas Medical Center – Training people to use an online tool to help recognize, diagnose and treat sepsis.
- Dr. Jay Portnoy, Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics – Using telemedicine to diagnose patients remotely.
- Ubolrat Piamjariyakul, KU Medical Center – Conducting training to help recognize the signs of heart failure and provide at-home care for some heart issues.
- Dr. Robert Riss, Children’s Mercy – Developing a tool to make sure patients leave the hospital equipped with the information they need.
