Prairie Village Tech Firm Netchemia Raises $6.5 Million

Netchemia, a Prairie Village, Kan. company that makes a Web-based platform to help school districts handle human resources, raised $6.5 million in equity financing this week, but the company has been mum on how it plans to put the capital infusion to use.

Netchemia has been heavily interested in the Google Fiber upgrade in Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan., and the company previously expressed hope that Google Fiber would help it attract investors and new talent. The company also has been hiring, advertising 15 positions on its website so far this year.
