Smoothie King plans to add 25 franchise locations in the St. Louis area over the next five years.
The New Orleans-based chain, which has eight current St. Louis locations, said it will cut its franchise fee by 40 percent — dropping the amount by $10,000 — to spur growth. The company will hold an event in St. Louis on May 2 for potential franchisees to learn more.
Smoothie King’s expansion comes as its rival, California-based Jamba Juice, also plans to expand in St. Louis. Dave Peacock, former president of Anheuser-Busch, plans to open 15 stores in Missouri and Kansas over nine years, beginning in St. Louis.
