As Energizer Cuts Costs, Second-Quarter Profits Rise

Energizer Holdings reported a net income of $84.9 million for the fiscal second quarter, a 9 percent increase from the same quarter last year. For the second quarter ended March 31, the St. Louis-based producer of household products reported revenue of more than $1.09 billion, a 0.5 percent increase from last year.

Officials say Energizer is ahead of schedule on planned cost-cutting moves. The company announced in August that it intends to reduce its global workforce by 10 percent and improve its cost competitiveness.
