Liberty Hospital Cutting Jobs To Help Trim $20 Million In Expenses

Liberty Hospital is eliminating 129 staff positions and making other cuts this month as part of a push to chop $20 million from its budget.

The staff cuts, which come after months of exploration by several internal task forces, are focused on administrative and non-patient-care jobs. Liberty will also cut its hospital-funded transportation program and close its wound clinic.

Hospital officials say the cuts are in preparation for changes set to take effect in 2014 under the Affordable Care Act.
