In Depth: MU Facing Enrollment Decline Amid Low State Funding

In the past decade, the University of Missouri’s record-breaking enrollment growth — 8,500 students since 2002 — has generated enough tuition to help MU compensate for diminishing state dollars. But the number of high school graduates is dropping, and MU officials expect enrollment growth — and the tuition that comes with it — to decline, and they do not anticipate additional help from Jefferson City.
