Clearwire Postpones Sprint Merger Vote After Dish’s Higher Bid

Dish Network’s last-minute offer for Clearwire has put consideration of a union with Sprint Nextel on ice. Clearwire postponed a vote on a merger with Sprint for a second time and is holding off on accepting any money from the Overland Park, Kan.-based company. One analyst said Dish’s higher bid for Clearwire could unravel SoftBank’s effort to acquire Sprint, and others said Sprint will at least need to raise its price if it wants to buy the 49 percent of Clearwire it doesn’t already own.
