St. Louis Zoo To Open Preschool

The St. Louis Zoo plans to open its own preschool, perhaps by the beginning of the 2014 school year. No plans are concrete, but the zoo would likely charge tuition similar to other fee-based preschool programs. About 20 students would be accepted into the preschool through a lottery system. The school, like other educational programs at the zoo, would be self-sustaining and not use tax money.

Zoos in other cities across the country, including Toledo, Ohio, Oklahoma City, Okla. and Wichita, Kan., also host their own preschool programs.
