A-B InBev Completes Sale Of Modelo’s U.S. Business

Anheuser-Busch InBev followed through on its merger obligations that allowed its fusion with Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo, completing the $4.75 billion sale of Modelo’s U.S. business to Constellation Brands.

A-B InBev promised to make the moves in order to ward off antitrust concerns from the U.S. Department of Justice. Company officials said late last week that the company had sold Grupo Modelo’s state-of-the-art brewery in Piedras Negras, Mexico; Grupo Modelo’s 50 percent stake in Crown Imports; and perpetual rights to Modelo’s brands, including Corona, distributed by Crown in the U.S.
