St. Louis’ Oldest Mall Closes After Long Demise

A year after Chicago-based developer Centrum Partners LLC introduced a $121 million plan to convert the dilapidated Crestwood Court mall into an entertainment plaza, the St. Louis area’s oldest mall officially closes to the public today. The city’s talks with Centrum to revitalize Crestwood Court have been fruitless. The epicenter of the conflict is the developer’s request for $34 million in public money via tax-increment financing and a special sales tax district.
