Commercial, Residential Construction Activity Jumps In KC

The housing market in the Kansas City area continued to rebound during the first half of 2013, with apartment construction tripling, home building up 31.6 percent and and home prices rising. The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City issued the best six-month report for builders since 2008. The six-month apartment total was the most since 2001. The Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors reported the average sales prices of new and existing homes in June were up 8 percent and 7 percent from the same month last year.
