Nixon Not Initiating Negotiations On Rams’ Stadium

Gov. Jay Nixon told a gathering of St. Louis-area business leaders that he’s waiting on Rams owner Stan Kroenke to propose improvements to the Edward Jones Dome and perhaps other ways for the team to make money off a stadium and surrounding properties. Nixon has emerged as an apparently key figure in the stadium talks after the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission rejected the team’s proposal for an estimated $700 million in stadium upgrades.

Local officials have hired Goldman Sachs to study potential financing schemes and there has been speculation Nixon would engage in direct talks with Kroenke.
