Two More Downtown St. Louis Buildings Face Demolition

While the historic Cupples 7 warehouse is being reduced to a pile of red bricks, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay signed a redevelopment bill that opens the door to the possible destruction of two more downtown buildings. The buildings are included in a redevelopment plan by a Chicago company that purchased the buildings, along with several other structures, from struggling St. Louis developers for $16.5 million. The plan was criticized by preservationists who wish to keep the buildings intact and promote density in the city’s downtown core.
