Medicaid Committee Chair: Discussion Has Shifted To Reform Plus Expansion

Rep. Noel Torpey, R-Independence, the chairman of a committee studying Medicaid eligibility and reform and holding hearings on the subject across the state, says the comments his committee has heard indicate a shift in the Medicaid conversation since the end of the legislative session.

Torpey says about 95 percent of people who have testified at hearings have supported expansion with reform, reminding lawmakers of the need for reform. Torpey and his committee will hold a final hearing Wednesday in Chesterfield. After that, the committee will submit a report to another committee made up entirely of House members.
