Grundfos Signals Commitment To KC With New Lease

Grundfos Pumps Corp. has agreed to a five-year lease extension on its Olathe, Kan. facility, easing concerns that the company might be planning to send a significant number of jobs to Chicago.

The Danish water pump manufacturer announced it May that it was moving the corporate headquarters for its North American operations from suburban Kansas City to suburban Chicago, but said the move would include only a handful of executives. Still, some doubt lingered about the company’s commitment to the Kansas City area, where it employs more than 250 people.

The 58,000-square-foot Olathe facility will remain as headquarters for Grundfos’ U.S. sales workforce and North American design and engineering division. The company, which bought 14 acres in Lenexa, Kan., in 2007, said the lease gives it time to develop plans for a more permanent space in the area.
