Home Prices Up, Supply Down In Kansas City

The average sale price of new and existing homes in the Kansas City area in August was $191,574, a jump of 10 percent compared with August 2012, according to a new report from the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors. Home sales rose year to year. In August, 2,948 new and existing homes sold. That’s 8 percent higher than the 2,727 homes that sold in August 2012. However, sales of existing homes far outpaced sales of new ones. In August, 2,712 existing homes sold, and only 236 new homes sold. In August 2012, 2,491 existing homes and 236 new homes were sold. The supply of new and existing homes is down 6 percent from August 2012.
