Obama’s KC Visit Comes As Nixon’s National Profile Rises

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon joined President Barack Obama on Friday during a visit to Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant at a time when the governor’s national profile is gradually increasing.

Known for his tax-cut veto fight and having scheduled an appearance at the Clinton Global Initiative next week to talk about disaster response, Nixon has said he is starting to feel more comfortable bringing his “solid mainstream voice” to the national stage. He declared that he has no plans for U.S. Congress after his second term as governor, but he has been coy about a possible presidential run in 2016.
