Missouri Schools Brace For Shutdown Cuts

Missouri schools may not get federal funding this month after Congress failed to avoid a partial shutdown of the federal government.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education informed schools they may not be getting their federal payment this month, Missouri State Budget Director Linda Luebbering said. The department is also expected to see temporary cuts in staff, as  “non-essential” personnel are furloughed during the shutdown.
