Plaza Vista Offices Open In Kansas City After Long Struggle

Eight years after the groundbreaking, a 10-story office tower called Plaza Vista formally opens today on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, and the Polsinelli law firm’s 450 local employees have moved in.

The project, which began in 2005 with a $84.5 million budget, was originally called the West Edge. Construction stalled in 2008. Trilogy Development, the entity originally behind the project, went bankrupt in 2009, and the unfinished eyesore was taken over the next year by VanTrust Real Estate.

At the end of the day, well over $100 million in value disappeared in what became one of the most costly and drawn-out real estate debacles in Kansas City history.
