Representatives of Block Real Estate Services LLC have been talking to Overland Park, Kan. officials about a proposed $350 million development. The mixed-use project, proposed by a Block-led group called BK Properties LLC, covers 137 acres of infill property and would be one of the largest developments in the history of the Kansas City suburb.
A planner for the local government said the proposal calls for 1,356 apartment units in four-story apartment buildings, an additional 392 units constructed around structured parking, 585,500 square feet of office space in four buildings ranging from three to six stories, and 32,000 square feet zoned for mixed use, which generally means retail. Plans also call for a nursing home and continuing-care community. The developers plan to start the project in 2014 if rezoning and incentives are approved.
