Steve Edwards is the new chairman and CEO of Black & Veatch, succeeding Len Rodman, who announced his plans to retire in April.
The change in leadership at the area’s largest engineering firm came a month earlier than the firm originally announced; Edwards had been set to assume the CEO job in January. The date of the transition was moved up because Edwards completed work on the firm’s strategic planning process, spokesman George Minter said.
Edwards has 35 years of service at Black & Veatch and had been COO of the firm. Black & Veatch ranks No. 7 on the Kansas City Business Journal‘s list of Top Area Private Companies, with $3.28 billion in revenue in 2012. The Overland Park, Kan.-based firm is in the midst of a major renovation and expansion project at its headquarters.
