Laclede CEO Gets 13 Percent Raise After Major Acquisition

Laclede Group handed CEO Suzanne Sitherwood $1 million worth of stock last December, boosting her total pay to $2.1 million for fiscal 2013. That’s an increase of 13 percent over the previous year for Sitherwood, who took over as chief executive in the middle of fiscal 2012.

Laclede’s proxy statement shows that her salary rose 4 percent to $573,366 for fiscal 2013, which ended Sept. 30. She also received a bonus of $438,234, which was 102 percent of her target amount, and $95,380 in pension and deferred compensation earnings, plus $1,380 in perquisites.

Laclede’s earnings per share rose 20 percent during the fiscal year and its share price rose 5 percent. Sitherwood also led Laclede in the purchase of Missouri Gas Energy, its largest acquisition ever. Part of Sitherwood’s stock grant is contingent on the company’s performance between 2013 and 2015.
