Zipcar, a car-sharing service that was acquired earlier this year by Avis Budget Group, has expanded to the St. Louis area. The company now has hourly vehicles available for rent at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Cambridge, Mass.-based Zipcar said its expansion to the area is aimed at business travelers who need to make a short trip or people who are stuck at the airport and want to get out.

The move presents competition for Clayton-based Enterprise Holdings on the company’s home turf. Enterprise has its own car-sharing service, CarShare, that has expanded around the country in recent years and is now available in close to 20 major cities.
